The Veterans club organized their first troop challenge on Miracle Mile Thursday. The club which was founded four years ago aims to aid veterans and their challenges in returning to school and civilian life. The challenge included braiding twine, three legged race, dizzy izzy, balloon event, jumping jacks and puzzles.
Gift card prizes were awarded to the winners. This is the fourth year the Veterans club has been active. They organize fundraisers for the vets and deliver care packages for the troops during the holidays. “ This is our first troop challenge and we will learn through trial and error,” said Mei Ling Sieh, professor of communications and co-advisor of the club.
The club is organizing future events, such as workshops and counseling sessions for training and socializing future vets. The objective for this club is to help vets with their social skills, job skills, and sending applications for college. “We help veterans with their social skills and help them overcome issues at school,” added James Gomez, 27 , business major and the clubs representative in the Inter Club Council.
