Two men were detained for trespassing today around 1 p.m. near Bldg. 7 on Mt. SAC Way at Temple Ave.
Both men, who were not Mt. SAC students, were placing flyers on parked cars around campus. They were spotted by public safety officers and asked to leave.
The men said they had the right to pass out the flyers and refused to vacate.
Jeff Parker, director of public services, said he does not know what was on the flyers being distributed as he was not on the scene at the time of detainment but that the men were tresspassing as they were not students.
Once the men refused to exit school property, the Walnut Sheriff’s Dept. was called onto the scene.
“They were indeed detained by the Sheriff’s Dept. for a short time while [officers] conducted an investigation and because one had a warrant for his arrest,” Parker said. “He was issued a release from custody citation and ultimately released.”
The men were issued a formal warning for trespassing by Public Safety and the Walnut Sheriff’s Dept.
“This is over as long as they do not return to the campus, ” Parker said.
