The 5th Annual Radio Fest comes to Mt. SAC

Tents by the dozens with games, prizes, free stuff, and music from radio station disc jockeys from all over the Los Angeles area will gather on Thursday for a one day event called, “Radio Fest 2009”.

“Radio Fest 2009” is the fifth annual event organized and hosted by Mt. SAC’s Internet radio station, Audio8ball.com and the Radio-TV department.

Over 20 radio stations are scheduled to attend the event on November 5. Here, students can browse the different radio stations, have a chance to win different prizes, and speak to the disc jockeys that represent a diverse line-up of music genres and talk shows including, 102.7 KIIS FM, KOLA 99.9, KLOS 95.5, 104.3MYfm, AMP radio 97.1, Hot 92.3,Latino 96.3fm, Power106fm, and many others.

Audio8ball.com is a diverse Internet radio station for students and run by students from the broadcasting program. This program is designed to give students hands-on experience of a real radio station. Here, students choose the content of their programming which may include shows like, “The Pit Pass”, a NASCAR talk show hosted by Alan Bailey, “The Pig Skin”, an all football talk show hosted by the comedic Ray Holdridge, “Shot of Rock”, a rock genre music show hosted by Christy Flores, “The Rack” a hard-rock music show hosted by New York native, Cheri Hunter, “Flip Jams” hosted by Charly Pura, where featured music is only from Filipino musicians, “The Hype”, a Hip-Hop radio show hosted by a student who goes by the name, “One”, and the newest program, “The Pet Project” a show all about pets,  hosted by Aaron Reyes, plus several others shows.

Radio Fest 2009 will be held in front of the Student Center Bldg. 9C on Thur., Nov 5 from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.
