Student Health Services will be setting up a stress information booth on Miracle Mile on April 14 from 11 a.m.-1 p.m
Health representatives will hand out information to students on coping with stress. Health Promotion Specialist, Melissa Miranda Egan, will be present to advise individuals on how to best use the Student Health Center if they are in need of assistance regarding stress issues.
If students want individual assistance, Egan said “I’ll be directing them over to health services so they can speak to a counselor if necessary.”
Egan said a higer number of students visit the Student Health Center during the end of the semester.
Of course usually when you’re closer to the end of the semester you worry about whether you have good grades or you worry about tests,” Egan said.
The booth is set up once a semester and free information will be handed out along with free first aid kits, hand sanitizer, condoms, and pens. Small, squeezable hearts used for releasing feelings of anxiety or irritability will also be handed out.
Some of the factors relating to stress in students include: homework, tests, work, procrastination, family issues, and relationship problems.
For more information regarding health issues, students can call the Student Health Center at 594-5611 extension 4400.
