Social Distortion debuts

The wait is over! Orange County’s iconic punk rock band, Social Distortion, made their live network television debut on Monday, Dec. 6, on Jimmy Kimmel Live.
Formed in 1979 by front man, Mike Ness at 17-years-old, Social Distortion has become an influential band for many for over 30 years. Fans were able to obtain up to two free tickets for the mini outdoor concert through 1iota.com, an official website for tickets to tappings of late night tv shows. The estimated arrival time was 6:00 p.m. and the line of fans wrapped around the back lot of the venue onto Highland Avenue as they waited to get in.
The crowd was alive and going as the band finally came out on stage, and the show began at approximately 8:20 p.m. Social Distortion played their new song, “Machine Gun Blues,” from their up and coming 7th album, “Hard Times and Nursery Rhymes,” set to release Jan. 18, 2011. The second song they played on air was their famous hit song, “Story of My Life,” from their self-entitled 3rd album from 1990.
As Jimmy Kimmel Live concluded, Social Distortion continued to play three more songs for their fans. Those songs included “Ball and Chain,” “So Far Away,” and ended their Monday night performance with “Through These Eyes.” The wait was long, the night was cold, but the wait was well worth it for these fans. What more could a fan ask for than to see a legendary band hit the music stage for a few songs, all for free.
