Mt. SAC Football: A program of professional alumni and winning tradition lives on.
Mt. SAC is a football powerhouse with a history of talented athletes. The Mt. SAC Men’s Football Team has won two State Football and National Championships. The 2010 Mounties captured their fourth consecutive Southern California Championship and advance to their second straight State Championships which will be held here at Mt. SAC in Hilmer Lodge Stadium on Saturday, Dec. 11 at 1:00 pm. The Mounties will continue their legacy as they go for their third State Football and National Championships. From Super Bowl Champion Chris McAlister to NFL coach Rocky Seto, here is a list of the greatest Mountie Football alumni of all-time.
Ron English
English started as an assistant coach for Mt. SAC in 1993 and served as defensive coordinator for six Division I-A football schools. English was hired as head coach at Eastern Michigan University in Dec. 2008. At the time of his hiring by Eastern Michigan, he was one of six African American head coaches in major college football.
Dwayne Walker
Walker began his coaching career at Mt. SAC (1988-92), serving as secondary coach for four seasons before becoming defensive coordinator in 1992. He then gained valuable experience by coaching at Utah State (1993), BYU (1994), Oklahoma State (1995) and California (1996-1997) before moving to the NFL’s New England Patriots. Walker spent three seasons as UCLA’s defensive coordinator (2006-08) before he became head coach at New Mexico State University.
Alfonso Boone
Boone’s playing experience consisted of two years at Mt. SAC. He was named 1999 Mission Conference Defensive Player-of-the-Year as a sophomore. Also earned first team J.C. Grid Wire All-America and first-team All-Mission Conference honors in 1999. He was drafted by the Detroit Lions straight out of Mt. SAC in the 7 th round of the 2000 NFL Draft. Boone is now a defensive lineman for the NFL San Diego Chargers.
Chris McAlister
McAlister played for Mt. SAC before transferring to the University of Arizona. The Baltimore Ravens selected McAlister in the first round of the 1999 NFL Draft as the 10 th overall pick. McAlister was the starting defensive back for the Super Bowl Champion Baltimore Ravens.
Rocky Seto
Seto began his college playing career at Mt. SAC in 1995 and transferred to USC in 1997 as a walk-on. After playing for the Trojans, he joined the coaching staff in 1999 as a volunteer assistant and finished his career at USC as defensive coordinator. In 2010, Seto joined Pete Carroll’s coaching staff for the NFL’s Seattle Seahawks
Claudie Minor
Minor played one season with the Mt.SAC football team and one season with San Diego City College before transferring to San Diego State University. The Denver Broncos selected Minor in the 3rd round (68th overall) of the 1974 NFL Draft. Minor played nine seasons (1974-82) for the Broncos where he was an anchor on the offensive line. He alternated between right and left tackle positions.
Max Montoya
Montoya played two seasons with the Mt. SAC football team before transferring to UCLA where he starred for two seasons. Montoya, a La Puente native, was drafted by the Cincinnati Bengals in the 7th round (168th overall) of the 1979 NFL Draft. Montoya was a four-time Pro-Bowl guard who played for 16 years in the NFL (1979-94) with the Cincinnati Bengals and the Oakland Raiders. He played in two Super Bowls. Montoya is now a football coach in the state of Pennsylvania.
Antonio Pierce
Pierce played two seasons for the Mt. SAC football team before transferring to the University of Arizona. Pierce was signed by the Washington Redskins as an undrafted free agent in 2001. Pierce played linebacker for eight seasons (2001-09) in the NFL with the Washington Redskins and New York Giants. He is a one-time Pro-Bowler and was the starting middle linebacker for the 2007 Super Bowl Champion New York Giants. Pierce is now an ESPN analyst.
Leonard Russell
Russell played one season for the Mt. SAC football team before transferring to Arizona State University. Russell was drafted by the New England Patriots in the first round (14th overall) of the 1991 NFL Draft. Russell was a bruising tailback who was selected as the AP Offensive Rookie of the Year after rushing for 959 yards and four touchdowns for the Patriots in his rookie season. Russell played for six seasons (1991-96) in the NFL with the Patriots, Denver Broncos, St Louis Rams and San Diego Chargers.
Don Warren
Warren played two seasons with the Mt. SAC football team before transferring to San Diego State University. Warren, a tight end, played 14 seasons (1979-92) in the NFL all with the Washington Redskins. Warren was a member of three Super Bowl winning teams (1982, 87, 91). He was an original member of the Redskin’s 1982 “Hogs” group. Warren spent several years as a football and baseball coach in Virginia after retiring from the NFL.

I had the opportunity to play at Mt. Sac during the 70′s. My linebacker coach was Larry Schrock. Coach Schrock was not only a great football coach, but his demeanor both on and off the field taught me numerous life lessons. Thanks coach. Mike Zamora
