Mounties steamroll through Riverside

The Mt. SAC Mounties won their second conference contest in as many weeks, this time dispatching host Riverside Community College 45-12 Saturday evening at Wheelock Stadium.

Mt. SAC opened the scoring when Matt Faulkner found Ahmere Owens for a 30-yard touchdown pass. He would later find Jesse Canada for a 4-yard scoring pass. Faulkner finished 10-of-18 for 162 yards with two touchdowns and an interception.

Riverside’s kicker Noah Dobson accounted for half of his team’s points as he connected on a 19-yard attempt and later a 33-yard attempt.

Mt SAC would score the next 28 points after Dobson’s second field goal with 10:12 remaining in the first half.

Sophomore Lancer Iosefa scored on consecutive possessions as he found the end zone on carries of 11 and 6 yards, respectively. Bryce McBride would then break one for 96 yards to put Mt. SAC up 35-6 going into the fourth quarter.

Riverside (1-6 overall, 0-3 in Conference) scored its only touchdown of the game when Jacob Mitchell found Rober Marshall in the end zone with a 15-yard scoring pass. The 2-point conversion, however failed.

Mt. SAC (5-1 overall, 2-0 in Conference) will host College of the Desert next Saturday. Kickoff is set for 6 p.m.
