After sitting out as a redshirt sophomore at the University of Tennessee last season, Mounties quarterback Nick Lamaison returned to Mt. SAC to partake his second year with the Mounties in the team’s quest to win a second straight state title.

With the leave of last year’s quarterbacks, Matt Faulkner (San Jose State), Tyler Vanderzee (East Central University), Kolbe Arendse (University of Nevada) and Dalton Livingston (Riverside Community College), all eyes will once again be on Lamaison.

With the help of other players like running back Bryce McBride and receivers Michael Edwards and Breyden Torres Keohokapu, the Mounties find themselves once again equipped with an arsenal of players that can gain needed yardage in the offense.

On the defensive side, with the return of safety Malcolm Murray, as well as the dynamic duo of Bojay Filimoeatu and Vai Lutui, the Mounties will find the defensive presence to help alleviate the opposition’s attack.

With games against Fullerton College, Cerritos College, Grossmont College and Saddleback College, the Mounties will have their hands full as more than half of the opponents they face are ranked in the top 25, a handful of them with winning records last season.

By winning the state and national title last season, the Mounties enter the season with the number one ranking, according to the JCfootball.com, J.C. Grid-wire and the California Community College Football Coaches Association.

Lamaison played the 2008 season having thrown for 3,479 yards with 36 touchdowns and 7 interceptions.
