IDEAS hosts Day of the Dead celebration
Students and families gathered to honor the deceased at a Day of the Dead festival held Monday, Nov. 2. The IDEAS club hosted the event at the Student Life Center.
IDEAS, Mecha, the Spanish Club, LAMBDA, NAISA and the Students for Immigrant Rights club participated in the celebration by creating altars to commemorate influential people who have passed.
Festivities included skull face painting, skull decorating, an art exhibit, food and music.
Son jarocho musicians played music from Veracruz, Mexico while ballet flokorico dancers performed dances in front of the musicians. Aztec dancers also performed that night.
Items were raffled off while food was served.
This celebration of life brought large groups of people of all ages and races together.
