[Update]
Today, editions of the current Mountaineer newspaper were found in the newsrack in front of the Mountaineer newsroom, located in Bldg 26D room 3220, with “Liar” written in red marker across Obama’s forehead.
Stacks of newspapers were also found stuffed in recycle bins and trash cans on the Miracle Mile.
Campus police were notified and took copies as evidence.
Defacing college newspapers is a misdemeanor under CA Penal Code 538C which makes it illegal to attach or insert any form of representation to a newspaper. It is also in violation of Penal Code 490.7 to remove student newspapers from authorized distribution points.

Print issues of the Mountaineer newspaper were found defaced today with "socialism" written across President Obama's forehead.
Stacks of the current issue of The Mountaineer were found defaced today in a kiosk by the 26 Bldg. The issues, which depicted President Obama in a surgical cap and gown for a story dealing with healthcare reform, had the word “socialist” written across Obama’s forehead and some had devil horns drawn coming from his head.
The Public Safety Office has been notified and is currently investigating this incident.

why in the world would the public safety office investigate that? that is a waste of time.
It’s more exciting for them than driving in circles around the parking lots. But I am going with protected political speech on this one. Political speech is something most people agree is sacred, and should not be squelched, right up to the point where the message falls into the minority…
At least they published the story…
Its fine to have an opinion. Everyone should. But to doodle on a campus newspaper? Childish and ineffective. Instead of defacing a newspaper, which I’m sure the staff works hard on, why don’t you become a staff writer? Simple.
Its childish. Go home and doodle on your cereal box like a good nine year old.
But I don’t think its worth investigation either.
you guys should put a 50 cent charge on the cover, then if you catch anyone messing with the paper, they will get arrested
