BANNER system goes down for upgrade
The Mt. SAC information and technology staff announced that they will be updating the college’s Banner system this weekend.
According to Director of College Information Systems Sheryl Hullings, the staff will be upgrading the software over the Memorial Day weekend.
“The portal will be down this weekend. We will be doing a software upgrade to the BANNER system from version 7 to version 8,” said Hullings. “We’ve been planning this since last November. What we’re shooting for is to make the new features that the vendors bring to us. This is the first major upgrade we’ve done to Banner.”
Though this might be an inconvenience for some students, it should not affect the students who are scheduled to register for summer classes.
“There are no registrations this weekend,” said Hullings.
One of the big changes is that student will be able to wait list of classes. “At this point you might not see much difference, but you will be able to see the wait list for summer,” said Hullings.
The system is expected to be down on Thursday May 27 until Tuesday June 1.
