A new post on the Star Wars website has revealed the cast for the upcoming “Episode VII,” set to be released on December 18 of next year. The rumors surrounding Mark Hamil, Harrison Ford and Carrie Fisher’s return have now been confirmed, as the three will play their characters from the original series. Anthony Daniels, Peter Mayhew, and Kenny Baker will also reprise their roles as C-3p0, Chewbacca, and R2-D2 respectively, from the original cast. They’ll be joined by newcomers John Boyega (Attack the Block), Daisy Ridley, Adam Driver (HBO’s Girls), Oscar Issac (Inside Llewyn Davis), Andy Serkis (Lord of the Rings series), Domhall Gleeson (About Time), and Max von Sydow (Minority Report).

Details about the story are scarce, but Lucasfilm recently announced that the Extended Universe, which incorporated books, video games, and other media to tell the story after Episode VI, would be grouped into a “Legends”scenario, and thus is no longer considered canon.
