TORRANCE – Mounties’ freshmen guard Antonio Biglow led all scorers with 30 points en route to the Mt. SAC men’s basketball team’s 86-76 win over the host El Camino College Warriors Wednesday night in a South West Conference interdivisional game.

Biglow scored 18 of his 30 in the second half including all of a 10-0 run to pull the Mounties away with 3:01 remaining in the game.

“Its not only me,” Biglow said. “I had great teammates. If it weren’t for them I wouldn’t have been able to get the shots I had without my teammates.”

Sophomore guards Laquenten Jones and Rashad Bias each pitched in 10 points and Ariel Hall-Jones added seven to help the Mounties to the victory.

The Warriors were able to cut the Mounties’ lead when Julian Camper completed a three-point play to close the gap to 63-67 with 6:41 remaining in the game, but that is as close as the Warriors were able to get.

Camper finished with 11 points, five rebounds and an assist.

Eric Myles led all Warrior scorers with 16 points.

The Warriors’ DeAndre Ingram finally put an end to the Mounties’ 13-6 run with 3:01 remaining in the game to make the score 80-69, but it was too little, too late, as Mt. SAC was able to hold off the Warriors’ final push to gain the victory. Ingram finished with 10 points, five rebounds, two blocks and a steal.

Mt. SAC started out early, going on a 17-9 run, and occasionally implemented a press defense that took the Warriors out of its rhythm early on in the game.

“We wanted to get good energy, especially on the road where the team is used to shooting at the baskets,” Mounties’ head coach Allen Caveness said. “We wanted to get a quick start, to take the air out of the gym.”

El Camino, however, slowly got back into the game, highlighted by an alley-oop dunk by Wendell Lee to close the gap to 33-38. Mt SAC, however, found its groove again and were able to pull away to close out the first half 43-33. Lee finished with 15 points, five rebounds, two assists and a steal.

“We need to be more consistent,” Caveness said. “It is important to be consistent.”

Biglow said that he is still learning to be the team’s leader.

“Coach had asked me to take over in close games, but I am not yet at that level,” he said. “I am still in a learning process, but the next time coach asks me to do it I will be able to [take over the games]”

The win improves the Mounties’ record to 15-4 with a 3-game winning streak as they are coming off a couple of wins in the College of the Desert Tourey.
